Commonwealth Stadium
The University of Kentucky could perhaps have the most exciting athletic programs in the country! Commonwealth Stadium is the home to our football Cats. What an exciting place it is to call home at that. Did you know that Commonwealth is the youngest stadium in the entire SEC!? Well it sure is! According to a main headline on http://www.stadiumjourney.com the stadium actually opened in 1973 and can hold around a max capacity of around 72,000 people.
The atmosphere in Commonwealth Stadium is personally my favorite thing about the stadium. Especially the pre-game tailgates! Large groups of people surround all sides of the Stadium as fans play games, eat food, and set up their tents. There really isn't many venues across the globe that can give you the kind of feeling you get when you are in Commonwealth cheering on the Cats with 70,000 other fellow Wildcat fans!
This Stadium provides great access to games. Commonwealth is surrounded by several large parking lots(which is considered rare for an on-campus stadium) so parking for the game will never be an issue, even if you are running a few minutes late to the game! If you or your family members have any handicapped needs the stadium provides plenty of handicapped seating and lots of elevators and ramps for ones who need them.
A Visit to Commonwealth is definitively something that everyone needs to expedience at least once! According to http://www.ukathletics.com/ a beautiful new Bermuda grass playing field was installed along with 40 new reconstructed suite areas. Another bonus is that commonwealth stadium in one of the least priciest football venues in the South-Eastern Conference. This means you great the great expirience and you don't have to pay near the amount of money as the majority of SEC schools do.
What a truly remarkable venue this stadium really is! If you have not done already I strongly encourage you to make a visit to Commonwealth Stadium on a Saturday in the fall. Not only a special place, but a great place to call home!
